Abstract

Women empowerment means enhancing the religious, political, societal, educational, gender or economic strength of individuals and female community. Women’s empowerment in India is heavily dependent on many different variables that include residential area, educational status, social status and age. Due to the conventional mentality in the Indian society, women are still harmed, dishonored, tortured and exploited. In India many cases of domestic violence, sexual violence, and rape cases are not reported due to existence issue. There is an urgent need of changes for the growth and safety of women and girl children. The gender violence can be eliminated and the women empowerment can be achieved only if we change the values of our society. The change should begin from the individual. Only then a healthy respect can be ensured for women.
